About
Hello and welcome! You’ve discovered my personal dumping ground on the internet.
I’m Sam, currently living in Richmond, Virginia. This is a picture of me:
Since this picture was taken, I’ve lost the beard, so don’t be too alarmed about that.
I have several irons and place them in many different fires. Below, you’ll find are the ones you’re likely to see posts about here:
What I do:
My education / self-direction / career have turned me into a firmware and systems engineer. During the day, I’m an embedded systems engineer. Here, you’ll see occasional posts about hobby projects.
I run too much.
I started taking up running sometime in early 2015 and have run at least one mile every day since March 11, 2016. In January 2021, I ran a 50 mile solo “race” as a first foray into ultramarathons. I’m dialing back the mileage from that extreme a nowadays, in an attempt to stay not-injured, but will do marathon training occasionally.
I like cooking and baking, pretty much everything.
If there’s some cooking or baking-related thing I haven’t tried to do or haven’t been exposed to, I pretty much always want to give it a shot.
I’ve been sporadically sending cookies to my friends and family. For more information on that, look over here.
.. and also beer!
I like brewing and tasting beer. I’m still pretty new at it, but I’ve had fun trying to brew all kinds of styles of beer. Maltier ales have been a fun area to explore recently.
And some other things.
Broadly, I’m interested in technology and electronics. Coffee’s great and I love it, even bad coffee.
Finally, I would like to say that I am into these…
but I can’t really claim these in good faith at the present time.
I’d like to get more into reading.
Releasing a video game is on my bucket list but who knows if we’ll ever see that happen. (I did a game jam in 2022 to kickstart learning!)
Stick around for a while, if you’re not busy.
